Welcome to Doctor Warrick's Podcast Channel. Warrick is a practicing cardiologist and author with a passion for improving care by helping patients understand their heart health through education. Warrick believes educated patients get the best health care. Discover and understand the latest approaches and technology in heart care and how this might apply to you or someone you love.

In this podcast, Doctor Warrick Bishop discusses two interesting papers.

The first paper is about dog therapy, where researchers in Canada conducted a randomized controlled trial to see if having dogs in the emergency department could help reduce pain and anxiety in patients. The study found that dog therapy did indeed help alleviate some of the anxieties, fears, and concerns of patients.

The second paper is about a study conducted by researchers from the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center Dallas, which aimed to see if exercise or fish oil could benefit overweight men at high risk of heart failure. The study found that high-intensity interval training improved physical capacity, VO2 max, and strength, but there was no response in the space of weight loss. The fish oil group showed no change whatsoever.

Doctor Bishop emphasizes that exercise alone is not enough and that diet and nutrition issues must also be addressed. He concludes by encouraging listeners to visit his website for the latest news on heart disease.
