Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and untreated or under-treated atrial fibrillation is a major cause of stroke, heart failure, hospitalisations and even death. In many people, atrial fibrillation can cause significant symptoms but in others it can be present with no symptoms.

This book provides an excellent introduction to atrial fibrillation and a comprehensive review of the management options available for AF.

The management of atrial fibrillation is complex and can be confusing. A number of different approaches and a number of different strategies are possible, depending on the specifics of the person with atrial fibrillation and the expertise and interest of the treating doctor.

I think this book is an ideal resource for anyone diagnosed with atrial fibrillation or living with someone diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Presenting to your treating cardiologist or electrophysiologist with a better understanding of atrial fibrillation will improve the doctor-patient experience and ensure that the best outcomes can be achieved.

I have known Dr Warrick Bishop for many years, and we have shared and successfully managed many patients with atrial fibrillation. He is respected and admired by all the patients we have in common.
Warrick has an unique ability to demystify complex medical issues. His style is factually accurate and scientifically complete, yet free of the medical jargon typically used by many in our profession. I have frequently recommended his previous book, Have You Planned Your Heart Attack? I also have links to his Healthy Heart Network TV show and his podcasts on my office computer.
This is the best patient-focused atrial fibrillation book that I have read.
