Hi, my name is Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. Today, a couple of words on rehabilitation from a cardiac event and driving.
Well, it comes up regularly after something's happened with your heart. Can I drive? Well, thing that can happen to you. How are all sorts of things? You could black out, you might need surgery on your heart, you might need a pacemaker, you might need a stent. All these things are quite specific. And it turns out that the Australian National Transport Commission have very precise guidelines about the best way or the recommended non-driving period. And that could be different if you're a private vehicle driver versus a commercial vehicle driver.
I've done an extensive podcast that I've attached to this video and that's with Dr Alistair Begg, cardiologist whose special area of interest is cardiac rehabilitation. He answers lots of the tricky questions that I get on a regular basis. And if you're interested in that, please follow the link to that podcast and have a listen to it. For now, however, I'm going to wish you the very best. Take care and bye for now.
