Hi, my name's Dr. Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minut. Today, I want to touch on a concept which might be a bit foreign, and it's one that I'm just going to throw out there as an intellectual exercise.
What if coronary artery disease is not actually a disease? What if it's simply a mechanism which is a repair mechanism that goes wrong? Well, we think of cardiatric disease or plaque in the arteries as something that's really a problem, but could it be that over years as we evolved, our bodies recognize that from time to time we need to heal the arteries from within, where there's wear and tear or damage occurring.
And could it be that these spots of healing within the arteries actually become malfunctioning for some reason? And because they're not working properly because there's a misdirected healing response that leads to a consequence where we end up with a disease. Think of maybe clots forming in the legs, DVT, which break often go to the lungs. Now, we know that's a deranged at normal response, actually, because we need our blood to be able to clot. Cause if we had a cut in the leg, we would just continue to bleed without our body being able to stem that blood flow. So clots are almost a deranged normal response. And I wonder if cardiatric diseases are the same.
I've done a whole podcast on it, attached to this one minute video. Please check it out. You might find it interesting and certainly a bit left field. I'm going to wish you the very best. Take care and bye for now.
