Hi, my name's Dr Warrick Bishop and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. In this minute, I wanna let you know a little bit about de-prescribing.
What is that? It's really trying to reduce and consolidate the therapies that people are on. How can we make it easier for people, and make their journey, the most sensible for them by reducing the clutter in their lives, and of course in their medical care. Well, there are do's and don'ts for deprescribing and they're really a balance about what's really essential in the longer term, and what might we be able to let go of. Well, I've done a whole podcast on that very topic, and I think you'll find some of the details interesting.
We all seem to accumulate these medications a bit like barnacles on a boat, but sometimes there is really good reason to let some of these agents go and review what people are on, even consolidating certain therapies into single tablets to make life less complicated for the person who needs to take.
A quick word on one of my favorite soap boxes. Always make sure you know exactly what medications you take. Carry a list that's up to date in your wallet. It's always valuable for your best healthcare.
Anyway, check out the podcast on Deprescribing: Do's and Don'ts. It's linked to this video. Till next time, I wish you lived as well as possible for as long as possible.
Take care and bye for now!
