Hi, my name's Dr. Warrick Bishop. I'm a cardiologist and welcome to my Healthy Heart Minute. This one's about atrial fibrillation and can food impact it?

Well, pretty simply it can.

Probably the most significant food or compound that we can consume that impacts atrial fibrillation is alcohol. There are very strong links between alcohol consumption and development of atrial fibrillation soon after.

There's even been studies where they've had catheters, little tubes, measuring devices within the heart, in the lab, and they've infused alcohol into the patient to demonstrate funny heartbeats within the heart, triggered by the alcohol, showing us that it's closely linked as a precipitant causative agent for atrial fibrillation.

Well, I talk about food and atrial fibrillation in a podcast attached to this video in a lot more detail, and you may well find that interesting. So, check on the link and have a listen.

Till next time. I wish you live as well as possible, for as long as possible. Take care and bye for now!
