Hi, my name's Dr. Warrick Bishop and I'm a cardiologist. I'd like to talk a little bit today about how clots form in the body.
Well, interestingly, clots can form in two different situations where blood flow is fast and the pressures are high that's in arteries, blocking things like the coronary arteries to the heart or the carotid arteries to the brain. Blood can also form clots in the slow flowing areas of the body, in the veins and in the upper chambers or lower chambers of the heart if blood is not being pumped properly. For the high velocity, high-pressure situation, we use anti-platelet agents, things like aspirin. For the slow flow clot formation we use anticoagulants like warfarin, noacs.
I've done a podcast on the very topic. Please hit the link below if you're interested. In the meantime, I hope that little bit of information helps you about clots, aspirin, anticoagulants and a better understanding. Wish you the very best till next time. Take care. Bye for now and please don't die from a heart attack. Goodbye.
