Hi, I'm Dr Warrick Bishop, and I'm a cardiologist. Look, today I'd like to take a moment and talk about children in consultations.

Wow, what an interesting topic. Look, I have two beautiful children myself and I love kids. But unless the child is the patient, I'm not sure that they always need to be in the consulting room with their mother or father or both. So my experience is, particularly if young children are being brought in by mother or mother and father. Young children, if they're disruptive, if they're upset, tearful, crying or playing games that make noises or crawling around the floor and doing baby things, they actually detract from the very important conversations we sometimes need to have. And I know sometimes you just can't help but bring your child along. And if that's the case, that's the case. So be with it. But if at all possible, if the consultation is for you, you want that communication clear. Sometimes I have children come along with a consultation and they help their elderly parent with remembering their drugs and putting into place treatment strategies. And that is just fantastic.

Anyway, I've done a podcast on it. If you're interested, the link is below. Have a listen. I wish you the very best. I hope you and your kids figure out where they fit in the consultation. Take care bye for now and don't die from a heart attack. Goodbye.
